Eating

One of my favorite pastimes is eating. Eating is a life-sustaining activity for humanity, as it is for all forms of heterotrophic life for that matter. It involves the consuming and digestion of living or preferrably previously living and cooked matter as means of obtaining nutrients vital for the continuation of human life. Once food is injested, it travels down the oesophagus by means of paristaltic muscle movement and into the stomach. At this point most people don't really care what happens to their food next. They are usually satisfied enough that they have eaten, but I will tell you anyway for the sake of having a website with some, if not much educational value. So after passing into the stomach, on second thought, I won't tell you in detail what happens because I don't really know how the digestive system works. I do know that the stomach contains hydrochloric acid which breaks down the food matter before moving on to the small and large intestines where it is digested further.

As a human I have always enjoyed and felt compelled to eat, and assuming that all of the readers of this page will be human (if not, I am seriously concerned), you probably share the interest that I do in the process of eating. Being of this fabulous omnivorous species, I have a large variety of foods to choose from. Some of my favorites among these include grilled tuna, spaghetti, steak, and Italien dressing, without which I would not be the person I am today. In fact, my interest in food and life in general was significantly increased with my discovery of Italien dressing years ago. It can be put on anything. I might even go as far to say that it is as versatile as cheese, which I will not go into because of the sheer tonage I could write on my love for the wonderous dairy product.

I try to eat as often as possible and prefer to use some kind of utensil when in the process of pursuing this interest, such as a knife, fork spoon, or some combination of the three simultaneously. If, however, there are no eating utensils available, I will not be deterred and will proceed to eat with my hands (to the dismay of most).

Pursuing my interest in eating helps ensure that I will continue to live, which is something I will hopefully be doing for some time. Since I must continue to eat for the rest of my life, I will be eating until the day that my heart stops beating and my metabolism ceases. Alas, my love of cheese (and other foods that are even more effective as cholesteral level enhancers) may shorten the time till this event, but until then, I will be enjoying a life of excessive eating.
